Jacob 4:14
14 But behold, the Jews were a astiffnecked people; and they bdespised the words of cplainness, and dkilled the prophets, and sought for things that they could not understand. Wherefore, because of their eblindness, which fblindness came by looking beyond the gmark, they must needs fall; for God hath taken away his plainness from them, and delivered unto them many things which they hcannot understand, because they desired it. And because they desired it God hath done it, that they may istumble.

13  Furthermore the Lord spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a astiffnecked people:

16  But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and ahardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments,

2  For I, Nephi, have not taught them many things concerning the manner of the Jews; for their works were works of darkness, and their doings were doings of abominations.

31  Because he hath adespised the word of the Lord, and hath broken his commandment, that soul shall utterly be cut off; his iniquity shall be upon him.

13  But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness: they walked not in my statutes, and they bdespised my judgments, which if a man do, he shall even live in them; and my sabbaths they greatly polluted: then I said, I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness, to consume them.

30  And notwithstanding they being led, the Lord their God, their Redeemer, going before them, leading them by day and giving light unto them by night, and doing all things for them which were expedient for man to receive, they hardened their hearts and blinded their minds, and reviled against Moses and against the true and living God.

7  For the things which some men esteem to be of great worth, both to the body and soul, others set at anaught and trample under their feet. Yea, even the very God of Israel do men trample under their feet; I say, trample under their feet but I would speak in other words—they set him at naught, and hearken not to the voice of his counsels.

2  But behold, there are many that aharden their hearts against the Holy Spirit, that it hath no place in them; wherefore, they cast many things away which are written and esteem them as things of naught.

7  For, behold, you should not have feared man more than God. Although men set at naught the counsels of God, and bdespise his words—

3  But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the esimplicity that is in Christ.

4  Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets have cried, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts; Turn ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings: but they did bnot hear, nor hearken unto me, saith the Lord.

18  They have not known nor understood: for he hath bshut their eyes, that they cannot see; and their hearts, that they cannot understand.

25  For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that bblindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

47  Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also adeceived?

1  Now I, Nephi, do speak somewhat concerning the words which I have written, which have been spoken by the mouth of Isaiah. For behold, Isaiah spake many things which were ahard for many of my people to understand; for they know not concerning the manner of prophesying among the Jews.

14  And shall say, Cast ye up, cast ye up, prepare the way, take up the cstumblingblock out of the way of my people.
