1 Nephi 17:41
 41 And he did straiten them in the wilderness with his rod; for they ahardened their hearts, even as ye have; and the Lord straitened them because of their iniquity. He sent fiery flying bserpents among them; and after they were bitten he prepared a way that they might be chealed; and the labor which they had to perform was to look; and because of the dsimpleness of the way, or the easiness of it, there were many who perished.

  7  For so it was, that the children of Israel had sinned against the Lord their God, which had brought them up out of the land of Egypt, from under the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and had feared other gods,

  6  And the Lord sent fiery bserpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.

  15  Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery aserpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint;

  19  Behold, he was spoken of by Moses; yea, and behold a btype was raised up in the wilderness, that whosoever would look upon it might live. And many did look and live.

  3  I taught Ephraim also to go, taking them by their arms; but they knew not that I ahealed them.

  14  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

  20  And now, my brethren, I have spoken plainly that ye cannot err. And as the Lord God liveth that brought Israel up out of the land of Egypt, and gave unto Moses power that he should bheal the nations after they had been bitten by the poisonous serpents, if they would cast their eyes unto the serpent which he did raise up before them, and also gave him power that he should smite the rock and the water should come forth; yea, behold I say unto you, that as these things are true, and as the Lord God liveth, there is none other name given under heaven save it be this Jesus Christ, of which I have spoken, whereby man can be saved.

  46  O my son, do not let us be aslothful because of the easiness of the way; for so was it with our fathers; for so was it prepared for them, that if they would look they might live; even so it is with us. The way is prepared, and if we will look we may live forever.

  15  And as many as should look upon that serpent should alive, even so as many as should look upon the Son of God with faith, having a contrite spirit, might live, even unto that life which is eternal.
