2 Nephi 2:5
5 And men are instructed sufficiently that they aknow good from evil. And the blaw is given unto men. And by the law no flesh is cjustified; or, by the law men are dcut off. Yea, by the temporal law they were cut off; and also, by the spiritual law they perish from that which is good, and become miserable forever.

16  For behold, the Spirit of Christ is given to every man, that he may cknow good from evil; wherefore, I show unto you the way to judge; for every thing which inviteth to do good, and to persuade to believe in Christ, is sent forth by the power and gift of Christ; wherefore ye may know with a perfect knowledge it is of God.

16  Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the elaw: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

2  This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the alaw, or by the hearing of faith?

28  And moreover, I say unto you, that salvation doth not come by the blaw alone; and were it not for the atonement, which God himself shall make for the sins and iniquities of his people, that they must unavoidably perish, notwithstanding the law of Moses.

20  Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be cjustified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

5  For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto cdeath.

23  For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our brethren, to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by bgrace that we are saved, after all we can do.

14  And thus we see that all mankind were fallen, and they were in the grasp of bjustice; yea, the justice of God, which consigned them forever to be cut off from his presence.

20  But the soul that eateth of the flesh of the sacrifice of peace offerings, that pertain unto the Lord, having his uncleanness upon him, even that soul shall be acut off from his people.

6  Wherefore, all mankind were in a alost and in a fallen state, and ever would be save they should rely on this Redeemer.

6  For as death hath passed upon all men, to fulfil the merciful plan of the great Creator, there must needs be a power of resurrection, and the resurrection must needs come unto man by reason of the fall; and the fall came by reason of transgression; and because man became fallen they were fcut off from the presence of the Lord.

42  Now, there is a death which is called a temporal death; and the death of Christ shall loose the bands of this temporal death, that all shall be raised from this temporal death.

16  And now behold, I say unto you then cometh a death, even a second death, which is a spiritual death; then is a time that whosoever dieth in his sins, as to a temporal death, shall also die a spiritual death; yea, he shall die as to things pertaining unto righteousness.

7  And now, ye see by this that our first parents were acut off both temporally and spiritually from the presence of the Lord; and thus we see they became subjects to follow after their own will.

16  Yea, behold, this death bringeth to pass the resurrection, and redeemeth all mankind from the first death—that spiritual death; for all mankind, by the fall of Adam being dcut off from the presence of the Lord, are considered as dead, both as to things temporal and to things spiritual.
