2  Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the dust, and made thee prince over my people Israel; and thou hast walked in the way of Jeroboam, and hast made my people Israel to ^asin, to provoke me to anger with their sins;

  48  And it came to pass that the servant said unto his master: Is it not the loftiness of thy vineyard—have not the branches thereof overcome the roots which are good? And because the branches have overcome the roots thereof, behold they grew faster than the strength of the roots, ^btaking strength unto themselves. Behold, I say, is not this the cause that the trees of thy vineyard have become corrupted?

  8  And now it came to pass that Amulon began to exercise ^bauthority over Alma and his brethren, and began to persecute him, and cause that his children should persecute their children.

  2  And thus he did inspire their hearts against the Nephites, insomuch that in the latter end of the nineteenth year of the reign of the judges, he having accomplished his designs thus far, yea, having been made king over the Lamanites, he ^bsought also to reign over all the land, yea, and all the people who were in the land, the Nephites as well as the Lamanites.

  36  Behold, I am Moroni, your chief captain. I ^aseek not for power, but to pull it down. I seek not for honor of the world, but for the glory of my God, and the freedom and welfare of my country. And thus I close mine epistle.
