24  And they took him, and cast him into a pit: and the pit was empty, there was no water in it.

  6  Then took they Jeremiah, and cast him into the dungeon of Malchiah the son of Hammelech, that was in the court of the prison: and they let down Jeremiah with cords. And in the dungeon there was no water, but mire: so Jeremiah sunk in the mire.

  2  I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into ^adeep waters, where the floods overflow me.

  3  For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me.

  25  Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;

  7  He hath ^ahedged me about, that I cannot get out: he hath made my chain heavy.

  6  The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me;

  16  But, exerting all my powers to call upon God to deliver me out of the power of this enemy which had seized upon me, and at the very moment when I was ready to sink into despair and abandon myself to destruction—not to an imaginary ruin, but to the power of some actual being from the unseen world, who had such marvelous power as I had never before felt in any being—just at this moment of great alarm, I saw a pillar of light exactly over my head, above the brightness of the sun, which descended gradually until it fell upon me.

  10  But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive ^agood at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.

  20  Wherefore is light given to him that is in ^bmisery, and life unto the bitter in soul;

  27  Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
