20  She stretcheth out her hand to the apoor; yea, she reacheth forth her hands to the needy.

26  And now, for the sake of these things which I have spoken unto you—that is, for the sake of retaining a remission of your sins from day to day, that ye may walk guiltless before God—I would that ye should impart of your substance to the poor, every man according to that which he hath, such as feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, visiting the sick and administering to their relief, both spiritually and temporally, according to their wants.

27  And they did impart of their substance, every man according to that which he had, to the bpoor, and the needy, and the sick, and the afflicted; and they did not wear costly apparel, yet they were neat and comely.

12  And it was because of the pride of their hearts, because of their exceeding riches, yea, it was because of their oppression to the cpoor, withholding their food from the hungry, withholding their clothing from the naked, and smiting their humble brethren upon the cheek, making a mock of that which was sacred, denying the spirit of prophecy and of revelation, murdering, plundering, lying, stealing, committing adultery, rising up in great contentions, and deserting away into the land of Nephi, among the Lamanites—

13  Arise and thresh, O daughter of Zion: for I will make thine horn iron, and I will make thy hoofs brass: and thou shalt beat in pieces many people: and I will bconsecrate their gain unto the Lord, and their substance unto the Lord of the whole earth.

15  Thus it cometh out of the church, for according to the alaw every man that cometh up to Zion must lay all things before the bishop in Zion.

3  It is contrary to the will and commandment of God that those who receive not their inheritance by bconsecration, agreeable to his law, which he has given, that he may tithe his people, to prepare them against the day of vengeance and burning, should have their names enrolled with the people of God.
