8  For it is the day of the Lord's ^avengeance, and the year of recompences for the controversy of Zion.

  2  To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of ^avengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

  19  Behold, a ^awhirlwind of the Lord is gone forth in fury, even a grievous whirlwind: it shall fall grievously upon the head of the wicked.

  1  For, behold, the ^bday cometh, that shall burn as an oven; and all the proud, yea, and all that do wickedly, shall be stubble: and the day that cometh shall burn them up, saith the Lord of hosts, that it shall leave them neither root nor branch.

  26  But if she observe not to do whatsoever I have commanded her, I will visit her according to all her works, with sore affliction, with pestilence, with plague, with sword, with ^fvengeance, with devouring fire.

  17  I will also smite mine hands together, and I will cause my ^afury to rest: I the Lord have said it.
