33  Howbeit thou art just in all that is brought upon us; for thou hast done right, but we have done ^bwickedly:

  29  And now I say unto you that it was expedient that there should be a law given to the children of Israel, yea, even a very strict law; for they were a stiffnecked people, quick to do iniquity, and slow to remember the Lord their God;

  8  Thus we see how quick the children of men do forget the Lord their God, yea, how quick to do iniquity, and to be led away by the evil one.

  3  And thus we see that except the Lord doth ^achasten his people with many afflictions, yea, except he doth visit them with death and with terror, and with famine and with all manner of pestilence, they will not remember him.

  15  I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and ^bseek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.

  27  That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might ^cfeel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

  6  And now when Alma heard this, he turned him about, his face immediately towards him, and he beheld with great joy; for he beheld that their afflictions had truly humbled them, and that they were in a ^cpreparation to hear the word.

  12  And when he was in affliction, he ^bbesought the Lord his God, and humbled himself greatly before the God of his fathers,

  34  And it came to pass that the people did follow the course of the beasts, and did devour the carcasses of them which fell by the way, until they had devoured them all. Now when the people saw that they must perish they began to ^crepent of their iniquities and cry unto the Lord.
