16  Because that he remembered not to shew mercy, but persecuted the ^apoor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart.

  7  In thee have they set light by father and mother: in the midst of thee have they dealt by oppression with the stranger: in thee have they vexed the fatherless and the ^ewidow.

  12  For I know your manifold transgressions and your mighty sins: they afflict the just, they take a bribe, and they turn aside the ^cpoor in the gate from their right.

  55  Yea, and will you persist in turning your backs upon the ^apoor, and the needy, and in withholding your substance from them?

  16  Wo unto you rich men, that will not give your substance to the ^cpoor, for your riches will canker your souls; and this shall be your lamentation in the day of visitation, and of judgment, and of indignation: The harvest is past, the summer is ended, and my soul is not saved!
