10  Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of ^bsuffering affliction, and of patience.

  13  And it came to pass that they took him and bound him, and ^ascourged his skin with faggots, yea, even unto death.

  22  I soon found, however, that my telling the story had excited a great deal of prejudice against me among professors of religion, and was the cause of great ^apersecution, which continued to increase; and though I was an obscure boy, only between fourteen and fifteen years of age, and my circumstances in life such as to make a boy of no consequence in the world, yet men of high standing would take notice sufficient to excite the public mind against me, and create a bitter persecution; and this was common among all the sects—all united to persecute me.

  14  Deliver me out of the mire, and let me not sink: let me be delivered from them that hate me, and out of the deep waters.

  3  Yea, O Lord, ^ahow long shall they suffer these wrongs and unlawful oppressions, before thine heart shall be softened toward them, and thy bowels be moved with compassion toward them?

  27  I will send my ^afear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee.

  14  And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands ^aloosed from off his hands.

  17  The ^afear of the Lord was upon all nations, so great was the glory of the Lord, which was upon his people. And the Lord blessed the land, and they were blessed upon the mountains, and upon the high places, and did flourish.
