2  And know ye this day: for I speak not with your children which have not known, and which have not seen the ^achastisement of the Lord your God, his greatness, his mighty hand, and his stretched out arm,

  21  Nevertheless the Lord seeth fit to ^achasten his people; yea, he trieth their patience and their faith.

  3  And thus we see that except the Lord doth ^achasten his people with many afflictions, yea, except he doth visit them with death and with terror, and with famine and with all manner of pestilence, they will not remember him.

  14  And the ^aanger of the Lord was hot against Israel, and he delivered them into the hands of spoilers that spoiled them, and he sold them into the hands of their enemies round about, so that they could not any longer stand before their enemies.
