14  All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the ^cwound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; because thy sins were increased.

  1  Ephraim feedeth on wind, and followeth after the east wind: he daily increaseth lies and desolation; and they do make a ^bcovenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.

  6  It shall be also carried unto Assyria for a present to king ^aJareb: Ephraim shall receive shame, and Israel shall be ashamed of his own counsel.

  3  Asshur shall not ^bsave us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.
